Retiring my Asics Gel 1100's

Today was my last training session in my Asics Gel 1100's. It was a sad occasion as I retired the runners which have done an amazing job of providing my feet with the cushioning and stability control they need.

These shoes look great considering they were made in 2006!

I bought my Gel 1100's way back in 2006 but they were gathering dust in the garage up until about 10 months ago when I started running again. Since then, I've managed to clock up over 500km mainly on concrete and, despite their age, they've handled the abuse well. However a worn tread, steady loss of cushioning and an increase in kilometres per week have meant that they've now reached the end of their running days.

The styling is a bit outdated but they're still clean!

The Asics Gel 1100 have been a testament to the build quality and durability of Asics shoes. With DuoMax stability control in the rear foot and Gel and spEVA cushioning technology in the heel and forefoot, the Gel 1100's provided my feet with exactly the level of support and cushioning they required. Its thanks to the Gel 1100 that I am now a massive fan of Asics runners. So its no surprise that my new running gear are the fantastic Asics Kayano 19's. They've got a lot to live up to! Look out for my review on them coming soon!

Besides the wear on the inside forefoot, the rest of the tread has stood up pretty well.
